Another dispute between 2 warring clans was settled through the help of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte led by Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza Dimaporo, together with the Office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Rido and Conflict Settlement Chaired by Honorable Board Member Acmad B. Taha, and uniform men of the Arm Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP).

The said Rido settlement was held at the Multi-Purpose Building Capitol Compound on May 26, 2022. The Rido was between the family of Ansari “Sancaona” Ansar of Barangay Raraban, Municipality of Nunungan and the clan of Nasser Alilang Alando of Barangay Pindolonan, Picong, Lanao del Sur, who both voluntarily agreed and approved to amicably settle to put an end to their nine (9) years of conflict.

Seeing the two families reconciled, Governor Dimaporo expressed her genuine appreciation for the cooperation of each clan and also thanked the proactiveness of the people behind, who served as the bridge in mending the misunderstanding, including Mayor Marcos Mamay of Nunungan.

Mayor Mamay, on the other hand, earnestly asked for the continuous support of every family in the municipality and said,“ no matter how competitive a leader is, without the support of his constituents there will still be no progress ”.

“Nunungan was formerly known as the rido capital in the province. As such, we are putting all our efforts in solving these disputes to further develop our municipality. As we all know, there is no progress without peace,” Mayor Mamay added.

Along with Board Member Taha, the settlement was facilitated by ALeem Monib P. Mangilala, the President of Iligan City Imam’s League. Present also during the activity was Vice Governor Cristy Atay, Colonel Julius C Librada Arm (GSC) PA of the 5th Mechanized “Kaagapay” Battalion, Colonel Charmagne Batayola, Deputy Brigade Commander of 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, and Police Major Salman Saad, LDN- Provincial Community Affairs Development Unit Chief.
