On February 21-22, 2023 at the Manila Hotel, 1,248 municipal mayors from all over the country gathered for the LMP 2023 General Assembly, the first assembly under the leadership of our LMP National President Mayor JB Bernos. With the theme “Strengthening Municipal Capabilities Around Autonomy and Fostering Resiliency,” secretaries from different national government agencies (DENR, DOT, DILG, DepEd, DA, DOF, & DBM) were present to tackle the most pressing issues on the municipal level, and underscore challenges and opportunities emanating from EO 138.
The assembly was also graced by Vice President Sara Duterte and His Excellency, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. One of the highlights of this event was the presentation of the adopted declaration to the President of the Republic of the Philippines. The League reiterate and call for strengthened complementation between the national and local governments to actualized economic and social transformations, to reinvigorate employment generation, and to accelerate poverty reduction as articulated in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.
