PROFILE

The municipality of Nunungan is located in the southeastern part of Lanao del Norte. It is rich in forest resources  and huge agricultural land with high soil fertility. It has a total land area 48,625 hectares. It is bounded on the North by the municipalities of Sapad and Salvador, on the East by municipalities of Tubod and Madamba LDS., on the South by the municipalites of Pualas and Sultan Gumander LDS and on the West by the municipalities of Sultan Naga Dimaporo.

AGRICULTURE SECTOR

The municipality of Nunungan has a total land area of 4,582 hectares strategic for agricultural production representing 9.42 percent of the municipal land area. This agricultural lands devoted for production of major crops like corn, upland rice and coconut. Other crops raised include banana, vegetables, beans, root crops. The local government unit in line with its development priority to identify more suitable crops like strawberry and dragon fruit.

COMMERCIAL SECTOR

The municipality is secluded in terms of distance and difficulty of reaching to the town proper. Only sari-sari stores are established where the local residents buy their day-to-day needs for living. But with the current improvement of roads, local business would soon flourish in the town proper and its barangays.

TRANSPORTATION SECTOR & MOBILITY

Before, most common available mode of transportation of this municipality are the motorcycles due to poor roads condition. For now, since the approval of 900 million worth road project various vehicles plying to this area.
