Lanao del Norte Governor Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo has been appealing to the general populace of the province to sustainably protect the environment especially the remaining protected area in Mt. Inayawan, Nunungan town because the town possesses much potential that could attract domestic and foreign investors.

During the recent coordination meeting with DENR and LGU Nunungan officials headed by Mayor Marcos Mamay, the governor emphasized that a US-based company is interested to invest wind energy project in the province. Thus, the governor recommended Nunungan town as best location for the said innovation.

“Naay usa sa US company nga gustong motukod ug windmill ug akong gitan-aw ang Nunungan isip usa ka nindot nga lugar gumikan kay alleviated area kini. Aside, we need to protect our remaining forest sa maong lungsod gumikan kay ang Nunungan usa ka nindot nga lugar. This is our protected area, and we should protect this for the next generation and by doing it we are protecting the coastal towns particularly the Kapatagan Valley,” Governor Dimaporo reiterated.

For his part, Mayor Mamay is so thankful to the governor because of her unending support for the people of Nunungan.

“Gusto nako nga magtinabangay kita labi na mga kapitan, gumikan kay kung kami lang ang saligan dili namo madali ang enforcement, we really need the support from the sustainability, “ Mayor Mamay lamented.
