The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in coordination with the local government unit of Nunungan through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) has implemented supplementary feeding activity to various recipient schools in the town.
The activity is in line with the “Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino Act” or the Republic Act 11037 which was recently signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte mandating the DSWD to establish a supplementary feeding program for undernourished children age 3 to 5.
“We coordinated Deped for the implementation of this program. Salamat nga naa pod tay mayor nga very supportive,” MSWD Officer Corazon Villondo expressed.
The program is also supported by the Department of Education (Deped) intended for undernourished school children from kindergarten to grade six.
Mayor Marcos Mamay considers the program as instrumental in achieving the good performance of pupils on their studies.
“ Napaka-importante na mahatagan ng pagkaon ang mga bata para mas attentive sila sa klase, salamat DSWD,” Mayor Mamay said.
