The local government of Nunungan focuses on the reduction of poverty incidence has identified interventions working in and with various communities through livelihood initiatives.

Mayor Marcos Mamay said “ We listen and identify the most urgent needs of the people, as well as the long-term factors that stand in their way. We also identify the strengths and knowledge that already exist in the barangays of Nunungan”.

The Municipal Livelihood Skills Training Program of Nunungan is aimed to provide skills training preferably to the marginalized sector, give opportunities to Out of School Youth , and the unemployed residents of the town to become competent and productive members of the community.

This program is in partnership with the Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA) under their Technology-Based Community Skills Training Program offering courses such as Pastry Production Cookery and Food Processing.

Local officials with the help of the national government also distributed Farm Tools and Draft Animals to Beneficiaries under Tier 2 Program (Barangay Notongan).

Pastry Kit Distribution took place in Nunungan Satellite office in Kapatagan. Three barangays were recipients of the said Kits were residents of Barangays Carcum, Taraka and Canibongan.
