Nunungan Mayor Marcos Mamay visited the office of the new Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Atty. John Castriciones and asked the possibility of distributing certificate of land ownership award (CLOAs) soonest possible to more than two thousand (2,000) farmer recipients in Nunungan town.

DAR Secretary during their conversation said “This would happen within this year and President Duterte will possibly join the said distribution to also meet the farmer beneficiaries”.
This number of farmer recipients in Nunungan to receive CLOAs is the highest in the entire Lanao del Norte province according to DAR officials.

The DAR considering the distribution of CLOAs to empower farmer-beneficiaries under the land reform program particularly in the current administration of President Duterte.

Castriciones said the government is looking into the implementation of a two-pronged approach to separately cover more private and public agricultural lands for distribution to landless farmers. DAR – Manila office has been receiving complaints from different farmer organizations against individuals who claimed as land-owners of huge land areas still uncovered by CARP in previous years.

A bill is being prepared by DAR which would contain procedures to acquire more agricultural lands for distribution and more measures will be undertaken by the office for the welfare of the farming sector.
