The 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade or Magbalantay (Guardian) of the Mechanized Infantry Division of the Philippine Army celebrated its 8th Activation Anniversary recently held at Maria Cristina, Barangay Ditucalan, Iligan City.

Nunungan Mayor Marcos Mamay was one of the invited guests along with Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo, Lt. Gen. Arnel dela Vega, Commander of Western Mindanao Command representing AFP Chief of Staff, General Carlito G. Galvez, Jr; Major General Gilbert Gapay, Commander of Mechanized Division; Major General Roseller Murillo, Commander of 1st Infantry Division; Col. Thomas Sedano, Jr., Commander of Joint Task Force Group, 2nd Mechanized “Magbalantay” Brigade; Col Abdul Razak Bin Mat, Team Site Leader of the International Monitoring Team (IMT); Commander Said Sheik, Head of Delegation-Central Committee Member MILF Bangsamoro Transition Committee; Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Ms. Mary Ann M. Allera, Selim Sirimoglu representing Integrated Center for Alternative Development Foundation and other Municipal Mayors of the province.

The peaceful co-existence of Muslims and Christians is the core of the messages propagated by security and LGU officials.

However, Mayor Mamay believed that it is therefore imperative to have a good peace and order condition as mainstay of achieving long lasting development of his municipality and the entire province.
He envisioned, that in the long run Nunungan town would become a good destination for agri-tourism having potential of vast agricultural lands and good climate condition that would best suit on high-valued crops productivity.

Nunungan Mayor is more than optimistic he could achieve all his aspirations because Nununganians believed on his agenda or his vision for their beloved town.

“ The AFP and our colleagues in the local government service have been doing great as tandem for alleviating the standard of living through new opportunities for our people. We achieve all these because our communities are peaceful. To all Nununganians, let us care for our beloved town (Nunungan) by considering ourselves as stewards and vanguards for genuine peace and development and consider this as lifetime commitment”, Mayor Mamay said.
