Nunungan Municipal Mayor Marcos Mamay joined an event conducted by the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) entitled “An Academe-LGU Partnership Towards Sustainable Development,” held at Nunungan Lake, Nunungan, Lanao del Norte, on July 27, 2021.Mayor Mamay joined some professors from different departments in MSU-IIT shared their possible programs and initiatives in helping the town in its vision in boosting the tourism of Nunungan through Eco-Cultural Tourism.

In a bid to improve tourism and promote cultural heritage, the municipality Nunungan, Lanao Del Norte, is eyeing both agricultural and ecological-cultural tourism as two priority areas that could spur the town’s tourism industry, particularly by showcasing the majestic Lake Nunungan.

“Eco-cultural tourism is a potent force for the overall economic, social and cultural development as well biodiversity conservation in our municipality. May we continue to do what is best to unleash the full potential of Nunungan,” Mayor Mamay said.

Also present at the said event, the Provincial Director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Dir. Bruce Colao.

With the help of the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte, DILG, MSU-IIT, and other local and national line agencies, attaining lasting peace and development is possible in the Municipality of Lanao del Norte.
