Philmedia is a group of media practitioners working in the different areas of Region 10. During the recent anniversary of PHILMEDIA, Nunungan Mayor Marcos Mamay was one of the guest speakers. The activity was recently held in Maria Cristina Hotel, Iligan City.
During the event, Mayor Mamay elaborated to the media his plans in prioritizing programs that would help alleviate the living condition of the residents of his municipality.
He believes in a governance that encourages “two-way communication” among community residents. He also informed the public that his first priority would be infrastructure development. Thus, the 900 million worth of road project connecting his municipality and neighboring towns of Sapad and Sultan Naga Dimaporo is on the pipeline.
The PHILEMEDIA speakership of Mayor Mamay is a concrete evidence that media and government should work hand in hand in ensuring transparency and effective government and civil society relations. A government that never deride the media profession but instead consider them as partner in nation building.
