Farm mechanization is part of the Department of Agriculture’s program to modernize agriculture in the country, the main purpose of which is to lower down the production and transportation cost compared to manual labor. Recently, the DA Region 10 officials personally distributed various facilities to recipient farmers in the town of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte.

Majority of the land area of this town is dedicated to agricultural production and residents here rely on farming as their major source of livelihood.

According to Mayor Marcos Mamay he is elated with the turning over of these facilities because it would help farmers alleviate their living standards.

“These are instrumental equipment for our farmer’s welfare. I am very thankful to DA for all the efforts bestowed to us. This made possible because of the hard work of our MAO with her staff and the entire Nunungan LGU”, Mayor Mamay lamented.

There were four (4) Hand tractors intended for the municipality of Nunungan including sacks of Organic and Inorganic fertilizers, Silage Chopper, Water Pump with Engine Set, Big Tractor and many others.

“Thank you to Director Collado for your affirmative action that would help much to our local farmers here in Nunungan. We will assure to value all these things for the welfare of our farming sector,” MAO Carmen Bularon emphasized.
