The municipality of Nunungan Lanao del Norte successfully celebrated its 56th Founding Anniversary on Saturday, July 16, 2022. There were various activities organized by the municipality for the entertainment of the people and visitors who attended the celebration.
The big event included the 1st scenic climb at Mount Inayawan Natural Park called the 1st Kalilintad Climb, led by 2nd District Congresswoman Sittie Aminah Q. Dimaporo, in coordination with the Lanao Nore Mountaineering Club, the Provincial Tourism Office, and the Municipal Tourism Office of Nunungan.
The turn-over of the new Municipal Government Center of Nunungan was the main attraction of the said festivity, wherein Mayor Marcos Mamay invited various guests from the local and national line agencies. Ken Chan and Teejay Marquez of GMA 7 were also invited by Mayor Mamay and became the center of attention and brought great joy to the people, especially the youth.
To make the event more memorable, a motocross competition, live band, and fireworks display were also held at the Nunungan Lake, which residents, visitors, and campers enjoyed.
“Despite of that connotation na Rido Capital ang Nunungan, parang ayoko ngang maniwala kasi yung mga tao dito ambabait and the place itself is the best,” Mr. Ken Chan said in an interview.
Mayor Mamay, in an interview, emphasized the importance of discipline among his people, noting that Nunungan has been deprived of peace and order for decades, and now it is a peaceful community and developed in the area of infrastructure and tourism.
“Ginawa nating medyo bongga ung celebration nating ngayon kasi for the past 1-2 years hindi tayo nakapag-celebrate because of the pandemic,” Mayor Mamay said.
