Nunungan is blessed with natural wonders like Mt. Inayawan of the Mount Inyawan Ranges Natural Park, a protected area of forested mountains in the Northern Mindanao. The park covers a total land area of 3,632 hectares with a buffer zone of 889.04 hectares.

Mt. Iyawan has an altitude of 5,204 feet. At the foot of Mt. Inayawan are Lake Pantar at 1,535 meters high, Lake Tongkod and Lake Malaig which supply water for the municipalities in Kapatagan Valley.

No wonder the national government chose the town to host this month’s event that focused on environmental care and consciousness on the importance of unity to attain lasting peace.

September is National Clean up Month by virtue of Proclamation No. 244, while the National Peace Consciousness Month as declared by Proclamation No. 675 issued in 2004 also observed in the same month of September.

The aim of the National Peace Consciousness Month is to instill greater consciousness and understanding among the Filipino especially to Nununganians on the comprehensive peace process and to sustain institutional and popular support for participation in the promotion of building a culture of peace.

While the National Clean up encourages communities to clean up, fix up and conserve the environment as the country’s contribution to worldwide environmental preservation efforts.
