The officials of Hugpong Federal Movement of the Philippines (HFMP) conducted recently its first federalism summit in Lanao del Norte held at the municipality of Nunungan. President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign for the adoption of a federal form of government gaining more support, after series of summits, conferences and road shows conducted in some provinces and cities in Mindanao and other parts of the country.

Participants of the event were mostly residents of Nunungan town who had shown their support and interest on federal system’s advantages discussed by HFMP officials led by organization’s Chair Celso Tizon, Secretary Virgilio dela Cruz and National Anti-Poverty Commission Consultant Condrado Generoso. Regional and provincial officials of HFMP also attended the said event.

“Federal system of government would definitely ease the burden of too much bureaucracy,” HFMP official explained.

HFM team congratulated Mayor Marcos Mamay for leading by example in his municipality and adhering the advocacy to have a new system of government backed by no less than President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

“We promise to conduct other forums here in Lanao del Norte but for now we would like to extend our felicitations to the people of Nunungan especially to your Mayor Marcos Mamay for hosting this forum on federalism, makakarating ito kay President Duterte ang iyong all out support,” HFM Chair Tizon said.

However, Mayor Mamay explained to HFMP officials how the national government poured support for his municipality.

” Now, we have good road networks here that helped much in alleviating the lives of our people. Salamat sa ating president at sa suporta ng aming mga provincial officials including various government agencies,” Mayor Mamay lamented.
