The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of the Municipality of Nunungan, through the proactive leadership of its Chairperson, Mayor Marcos Mamay, was among the eight Local Government Units (LGUs) in the Province of Lanao del Norte conferred by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Council (RDRRMC) – Region 10 with a Gawad KALASAG (Kalamidad at Sakuna Labanan Sariling Galing ang Kaligtasan) Plaque of Commendation for garnering a rating of 2.14 (FULLY COMPLIANT) in the recently conducted LDRRMC Assessment 2021.
The award was given on November 23, 2021, at Kapatagan Municipal Hall and was received by Mark Carrillo, MDRRM Officer of Nunungan.
The Gawad KALASAG award is conferred annually by the RDRRMC to local governments and private organizations that excel in the implementation of disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation programs vital in empowering communities regionwide to be resilient during times of disasters and emergencies that happen in their places.
“We are deeply honored to present this award to the people of Nunungan, who have been our inspiration to strive and religiously plan, implement and monitor our DRRM projects and activities in the municipality,” Mayor Mamay said.
