To jumpstart the strawberry farm industry in Lanao del Norte, elected officials and some farmers from Nunungan attended the Workshop-Orientation on Strawberry Farming held at Samson Strawberry Farm, Don Victoriano, Misamis Occidental on January 5, 2022.
This initiative is through the efforts of Nunungan Municipal Mayor Marcos Mamay, in coordination with the Department of Interior and Local Government LDN headed by Provincial Director Bruce Colao.
“We wanted to boost the strawberry farming industry in our province starting from our town in Nunungan.
This will be a great help to promote not just the tourism in the locality, but also give livelihood to our residents,” Mayor Mamay said. Since Nunungan is situated at the foot of Mount Inayawan, the strawberries will grow abundantly because of the cold weather”.
“We have seen potential in our town since wild raspberries are already naturally growing in our lands, and we hope that it be sold in mainstream markets in the future,” Mayor Mamay added.
