The Local Government Unit of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte, will be celebrating its 53rd Founding Anniversary on June 27 – June 30 2019 featuring the “Pista sa Lawa.”

The LGU headed by Municipal Mayor Marcos Mamay has lined up various activities that will highlight the annual commemoration.

Mayor Mamay said, this year’s celebration aims to highlight the lakes of the town as the remaining protected area declared by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and is considered as the remaining watershed that shelters the areas of the Kapatagan Valley.

Aside from agriculture production which is known as economic driver of the municipality, Nunungan Lake is also the potential source of aqua products like fish and others, tagged as significant for the daily subsistence of the Nununganians especially those living closer to the said lakes.

The continuing improvement of the municipality to stand on its own would also focus on agri and tourism particularly the creation of Turugan houses in the lake’s surrounding area.

However, other highlights of the celebration are the Tree Planting activity, Peoples Day or Libreng Serbisyo Para sa Nununganians, sports competition, and preparation of Booth Competition and Pinaka-Contest on June 27, 2019

An Adhan Contest, Qur-an Reading will be on June 28 followed by Floating Bamboo Cottage and Kalilang Festival, Boat Racing, Swimming Competition and Midnight Concert on June 29.

The civic and military parade, will be held on June 30 during the culmination as well as the awarding of winners for sports and other competitions.
