Members of the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) discussed the specific sanctions of violators of the rules and regulations on the identified protected areas inside the province of Lanao del Norte.

The meeting was attended by officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Lanao del Norte, Nunungan Mayor Marcos Mamay and 2nd District Board Member Tawantawan Cauntongan, Chairman Committee on Environment.

Inayawan Range Natural Park in Nunungan town was declared by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as protected area under Presidential Proclamation No. 1344.

It is the last forest mainstay and critical watershed area that protects the low lying areas of the province particularly the rice granary – Kapatagan Valley. It has a total protected land area of 3,120 hectares and 866 hectares considered as buffer zone. It is the only largest remaining rainforest in the province.

Ideally, Mt. Inayawan is a promising sight for Ecotourism with embellished biodiversity and wildlife enhanced by local residents. Recently, a group of mountain climbers reached the summit of this mountain.

This is an impressive accomplishment of the local government unit headed by Mayor Marcos Mamay and the DENR-Lanao del Norte with the support of the provincial government through Governor Imelda Dimaporo and ENRO Ramon Serapio the continuous effort of protecting our beloved protected area in Nunungan.

Let us care for nature our future depends on it!
