The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Lanao del Norte confirmed that the municipality of Nunungan was declared drug-free by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)–Region I0, in a ceremony held recently at the DILG Regional Office in Cagayan de Oro City.

The ceremony was attended by PDEA 10 Regional Director Wilkins Villanueva, CESE with DILG 10 Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe and municipal officials of Nunungan headed by Mayor Marcos Mamay.

Nunungan is the 5th town in Lanao del Norte declared drug-free by PDEA following the declaration of the towns of Matungao, Linamon, Magsaysay and Sultan Naga Dimaporo.

Nunungan was conferred as Drug-Cleared municipality after obtaining necessary certifications from the Regional Oversight Committee on Dangerous Drugs (ROCDD) following the drug clearing of its twenty-five (25) illegal drugs affected and unaffected barangays.

Meanwhile, Mayor Mamay gave his commitment to PDEA and DILG to support the undertakings of other agencies of the government that would help in the rehabilitation of drug surrenderers through provision of livelihood and skills training program.
