The Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Philippines Muslim and Non-Muslim Unity and Development Association (SPMUDA) Dr. Camad Ali, shared his appreciation to the good yet vibrant municipal mayor of Nunungan, Mayor Marcos Mamay for personally distributing goods (Dates) from the benevolence of SPMUDA officials for the people of the town in consonance with the observance of the Ramadhan.
On his FB post, Cali appreciated the effort of Nunungan mayor as the only Local Chief Executive (LCE) in the country who is very active in supporting activities for the Ramadhan. He emphasized the Dates distribution as transparent and called to all his Muslim brothers in the Arab World to jointly support next year’s SPMUDA social activities during the holy month of Ramadhan.
The distribution of Dates took place on June 1, 2019 @ Nunungan Evacuation Center. The said dates were distributed to barangay chairmen then to their constituents.
Mayor Mamay aired his message of thanks to SPMUDA officials for choosing Nunungan as recipient of this year’s Dates distribution.
“Thank you so much Dr. Camad Ali, CEO and SPMUDA Founding Chairman and Dr. Wafa R. Qasimieh, VFP Director General of SPMUDA for the delivery of said Dates”, Mayor Mamay said.
The date palm, mentioned more than any other fruit-bearing plant in the Qur’an, is a symbol often associated with Islam and Muslims. Throughout the month of Ramadan, dates are a common ingredient in the Muslim diet.
The Prophet said: “Break your fast by eating dates as it is purifying”.
